| Members of the Hartsville Fire Company attended the 8th Annual Bucks County Fallen Firefighter Memorial at the Bucks County Courthouse in Doylestown on Sunday, September 29th. Sponsored by the Bucks County Fire Chiefs and Firefighters Association, the memorial honors the 25 first responders that died in the line of duty. This year two names were added to the memorial, Fire Police Officer Fred Wurst of the Union Fire Company and Paramedic Daniel McIntosh of the Bensalem Emergency Medical Services.
Fire Police Officer Wurst died of a heart attack in 1958 while operating at a garage fire. Paramedic McIntosh suffered a fatal heart attack in 2010 while struggling with a patient. In 2012, the “Danny Mac Bill” was signed into law, which provides equal benefits to the families of all first responders who die in the line of duty.
Members placed a flower on the memorial in memory of our own Firefighter Robert Roberts who died in the line of duty on September 17, 1972. Firefighter Roberts suffered a fatal heart attack while working at the scene of a house fire.
