How to Become a Member of the Hartsville Fire Company

Membership Type: Operational:
Junior Firefighter (ages 16 and 17) Senior Firefighter (ages 18+)

Application Process:

Complete the application and drop it off at the firehouse on any Tuesday night Submit a criminal background check
Complete a fire company physical (free)

Probation:
In the first six months you must attend 10 (weekly) drills and 4 (monthly) meetings.
You also must be registered for a basic firefighter class (free of charge for members of Bucks County fire companies)
The Basic Firefighting Class is typically hosted at the Bucks County Public Safety Center in Doylestown
Classes start at the beginning of January and the end of July.
The class is 192 hours (Tues/Thurs evenings and Sat or Mon/Wed evenings and Sunday)
Written and practical certification test at conclusion

Training/Meetings:
Hartsville Fire Company weekly drills are held on Tuesday night starting at 7pm.
Members are encouraged to attend as many drills as possible. Regular Company Meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the night.

Administrative Members:
Administrative members assist with a variety of functions within the company. Administrative Members are an important part of our organization, that work on committees and projects allowing our firefighters to concentrate their time on training. Your background, and skills may prove to be a great asset to the company!

Cadet Firefighter (ages 14-15)
Cadet Firefighters train on Wednesday nights starting at 7pm. Cadets are trained on basic fire fighter and team builder skills. All participants will need working papers issued by their school. No background or physical needed.
