9-11 Memorial

Updates

The Memorial is being planned for the front lawn of the station, subject to all necessary permits. It will include a wall with the names of all 343 firefighters, 23 New York Police Officers, 37 Port Authority Police Officers and 8 Emergency Medical Service responders who died trying to save others. Two columns will rise above the wall to represent the twin towers. A brick walk, a display of the steel, a bench and shrubs will be included.

Help with the Memorial design and construction has been offered from several private sources. It is anticipated that the plan will take until March of 2011 to complete and construction to begin as soon as the spring weather allows. Dedication is planned for September 11th, 2011.

The Hartsville name will not appear on the Memorial. The Memorial will be dedicated to “Never Forget September 11th, 2001”.
